Jean Michel believes that there can be a delight, even a danger, in tasting the La Chapelle 2015 from our May selection.

It's the same for the Teleman’s 'Brilliant Sanity'. An encouraging discovery because their second album is truly addictive!

Teleman’s music has a magic recipe. To play it safe, go for 'Glory Hallelujah' and 'English Architecture'; there’s also an ode to Belle & Sebastian in 'Devil in My Shoe'. Add a zest of Franz Ferdinand to the mix on lead single 'Dusseldorf' and finally a pinch of Metronomy on the album title track 'Brillant Sanity'.

Here I’ve only mentioned the influence of rather current bands but there is another particular quality on the album in general: a rare sense of melody, close to that of the Pixies on 'Trompe le Monde'. You can hear it on 'Superglue'. 'Fall In the Time', with its nightly sirens, is an absorbing urban gem! I also want to celebrate the musical alchemist behind all of this: the producer Dan Carrey – he of Bat for Lashes fame.
